Prairie is a public high school located on the Southwest edge of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, serving students in grades 10-12 as part of the College Community School District. Students live in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding communities of Shueyville, Swisher, Fairfax, Walford, and Ely. Approximately 1300 students attend Prairie High School each day. Over 230 students are involved in the choirs at Prairie with additional students taking courses in Music Theory and Performing Arts Tech. Three traditional choirs are offered, and students can also be involved in two additional show choirs as well as the select Chamber Choir. The choirs at Prairie perform in several concerts and local performances throughout the year. The Prairie show choirs perform locally and compete throughout the Midwest. Every three years, the Prairie Music Department travels with 250 band and choir students to participate in workshops and competitions at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
